3 Reasons Why Business Cards Can Be More Effective than Websites
Because we spend so little time in face-to-face contact, when you do meet customers or potential customers, take the time to shake hands, speak a few pleasantries and hand out business cards. There just aren’t enough ways to stress that it’s the little things that all add up to the success of a business. Yes, a website is important, if not required, but it is not the sole, one-size-fits-all answer to reaching out to your market.
1. Business Cards are Personal
Business cards are either distributed personally or they can be included in a direct mailing inside an envelope. Not only are they more personal than an impersonal website, but they have the added advantage of listing contact information and usually include a phone number. Have you noticed lately that many websites have removed phone numbers? This is frustrating when you need to talk to someone at the business. Further, if you spend a few moments talking with someone when you give them a business card, they will have a better chance of remembering you the next time they see that business card. Never leave home without your business cards, and if you don’t have any, waste no time in getting some printed.
2. Business Cards are Physical
Many people related to touch and feel, and the business card gives your business a physical presence—unlike a website. It is something that the customer or potential customer can hold and hold onto. How many times have you needed a product or service and rummaged through your stack of business cards to find just the business you were searching for? Business cards can bring customers to your doorstep long after you’ve handed them out, and just one new or repeat customer can more than pay for the expense of printing 500 business cards.
3. Business Cards are Classic
Business cards are classic in the same sense that navy blue, double-breasted blazers are classic. Neither will ever go out of style. They both convey a sense of good taste and have their place—even today. A fun, hip image does not preclude classic values, and the business card implies that you understand the importance of classic values as well as offering a product or service in keeping with modern times. Websites and business cards are not mutually exclusive. Each has its place, so why not cover all bases?
We hope that we have dispelled the notion that somehow business cards are anachronistic or something of little value in today’s fast-paced, impersonal world. In fact, it’s today’s fast-paced, impersonal world that makes us appreciate some of the time-tested customs from an earlier time. Some segments of the market will expect a business to use business cards and will feel that those businesses that don’t use them will cut other corners as well.
