The goal of having a website or blog is to make it easy to find and valuable to read. One of the best ways to increase the visibility of your site is with organic SEO. Also known as Search Engine Optimization, is a free way to draw traffic from search engines using specific phrases and keywords. This means putting a particular phrase a certain number of times throughout an article so that it’s picked up by search engines, such as Google.

Implementing organic SEO generally means that you consider keyword analysis and placement of those keywords correctly throughout the article (not too many or too few times), as well as link building and backlinking. Ultimately, the website will gain traffic if you implement organic SEO properly. Organic SEO is an ethical way to improve website traffic, in contrast to other methods such as black hat SEO which uses unethical and often illegal methods instead to gain traffic.

Organic SEO and your Website

As you start formulating a plan for your website, it’s important to do your research. You may feel overwhelmed by the whole SEO process and things. Don’t be – you don’t have to get everything perfect right away. Try and go through one thing at a time. There are a few things to understand as you embark on your website journey!

Keywords are the bread and butter of all SEO. Before you get started, do keyword analysis to find out which keywords in your topic are the ones that people are most likely to search for and that will fit with the search engine algorithms. That is necessary for success – period. That doesn’t mean that you won’t get traffic but it will not be as high as if you had used the most popular keywords.

Use that analysis to create the right keywords and phrases. It’s also necessary to use them properly. Do not pack the content with keywords. Instead, keep the use of them at approximately 5% to 7% keyword density. If you pack the content with the keywords not only will it read strangely but search engines, especially Google, will not rank the articles well.

Meta Descriptions

Everyone one of the content pages on a website should have a unique meta description. One of the keywords that you are using in the article should also be in the meta description. Keep in mind that each one of the descriptions should ideally be less than 150 characters. It is also important to use your target keyword in the page title and URL.

Don’t be mistaken, the success of your website is not just about the right keywords. Content is king! There are plenty of marketers out there that think that you can pack pages with subpar content and still get the right results long-term. If your content is not readable due to being packed with keywords, and littered with errors, you will not get the results that you want. Take the extra time to produce quality content that people want to read and cement your reputation.

SEO nowadays is all about being natural and making your site useful to people. Keep that in mind and combine it with some on-page optimization and natural link building and you will be on your way to more organic traffic.
